UMass Pentest Club is a collection of students who are passionate about real-life application of cybersecurity techniques.
About UMass Pentest Club
We are a group of students who are passionate about cybersecurity. Not just the things we learn from lectures — we believe that cybersecurity is "roll up your sleeves" activity and there is only so much you can learn from reading a book. With that in mind, we are always trying out new techniques and tools in order to keep up with the industry. The Club has been running since Fall 2016, and in March 2017 we participated in our first ever CCDC event! We hope to continue expanding UMass Pentest Club, as well as growing our CCDC team. We believe that cybersecurity is as important as ever. UMass Pentest Club is about raising awareness about cybersecurity and providing a safe outlet for students who want first-hand cybersecurity experience.
UMass Pentest Club focuses on two main objectives. First, educating students about different defensive and offensive techniques that are commonly used in the industry, as well as how to apply those techniques responsibly. Second, Umass Pentest Club recruits and trains the UMass National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) team. We believe that following these two objectives will help our members to better understand some challenges in the field of cybersecurity, as well as help prepare them for a possible employment in the industry.
